Botox
Botox, or botulinum toxin, is a protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, primarily used in aesthetic medicine to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. By acting on the subcutaneous muscles, it blocks nerve transmission, which prevents the muscle contractions responsible for the formation of expression lines. Although widely used, botox should be administered by qualified professionals as improper use can lead to more or less serious side effects.
